Sarkodie (Ghana) wins BET Awards 2012

Sarkodie Obidi simply known as Sarkodie (born Micheal Owusu) is a Ghanaian hiplife/hiphop artist making a whole lot of waves on Ghana’s and International music scenes. His ability to string several words together in a very fast pace puts him in a league of his own. During a tour in Ghana a few years back, the legendary rap star Busta Rhymes himself was impressed by Sarkodie’s performance.

Sarkodie was highly inspired by Obrafuor’s blazing “Pae mu ka” album. He has battled more than 15 MC’s on the award wining show called Kasahare on Adom Fm and had K.O. (knocked out) each of the MC’s which is judged by the listening public.

Sarkodie after a long stay in Ghana’s underground hip hop world, has become a cultural magnet in recent times. He regularly features at the very well publicized Easter festive events (from Adom Fm), the Kwahu MTN Easter bash, and the Coca Cola Easter beach bash at the Labadi beach.

For the BET Awards 2012, Sakordie was nominated and won the Best International Act: Africa, along with Wizkid from Nigeria. What makes his accomplishment truly amazing is that Sarkodie, at the heart of it all, is still just the shy, calm and respectful dude he has always been.  Congratulations Sarkodie!
