The Ghanaian web market is seeing a very fast growth. There are more and more people getting interest in web technologies. Even though a couple of events are organized yearly with the aim of promoting the use of the web in Ghana and in the world in general, more needs to be done to spread the word about the many opportunities afforded to us (particularly Africa) by the web.

Last Saturday 4th June 2011 was the maiden edition of the International Professional Web Conference (IPWC 2011). The conference was under the theme: Sharing Skills and Creating Connections for Greater Impact. Over 75 people attended the event and most participants expressed great satisfaction.

The topics of discussion varied from soft skills (networking and communication, personal development) to tech skills (blogging on the WordPress platform and creating dynamic web applications with PHP, MySQL and AJAX).

Speedata Web Technologies, a web services company organized the event with support from MVBITC, ICIIT UK, AnjMedia Large Format Printing, FlashInfo Magazine, and Dignified Life International. Yamentou Ndzogoue Lionnel, the Director at Speedata Web Technologies announced that next year the conference will be held in Ghana and in Cameroon.
