Glo Ghana initiated the campaign “Reserve Your Number” last 19th January, in lieu of the officially announced launch of their voice service. Many people in Ghana were disappointed once again, but happy to be able to secure a phone number on what is likely going to be one of the best mobile phone networks in Ghana.
In an article published on www.myjoyonline.com, it is reported that about 1 million people have already reserved a number on Glo, and more lines are being made available to Ghanaian consumers until the much awaited launch.
If you would like to reserve your number on Glo Ghana, just SMS your preferred number to: 023 0010 100 from any mobile phone in Ghana. The instructions are available here: http://220.127.116.11/ghana/default.htm
There are currently 5 mobile phone operators in Ghana and all of them were fined last year up to a total amount of 1.2 million ghana cedis (713,860.80 USD), for poor quality of service in certain Ghanaian regions. The five active telecom companies are MTN, Vodafone, Airtel, Expresso and Tigo.
