Glo Ghana Fined for “Failure to Launch”

| April 26, 2012

Glo Ghana Ads in AccraThe Nigeria mobile telecommunication giant Globacom has been fined by the Ghanaian government for failing to start its operations in Ghana. This fine of USD $200,000 we hope will incite Glo Ghana to launch as soon as possible. The news was disclosed by Ghana’s Communication Minister

Glo Ghana has been licensed since 2008 as the sixth mobile operator. It appears that the telecom operator has been fined for failing to meet some of the requirements that were part of the framework within which the license was issued.

Ghanaians have been highly expectant of the Glo Ghana Launch, and we can only keep hoping for that day to comes soon. With this unexpectedly long delay, it is easy to begin doubting whether Globacom will be able to deliver on all the promises of superior network quality they have consistently made since 2008. I remain positive and I believe they will not let all the money they have invested in Ghana go to waste.

Long live Glo Ghana!
